How To Set Up a Canister Filter

Setting up a canister filter is very easy and we find the easiest way is just the old fashion way of doing it. We will show you how to set up your canister filter in 5 easy steps. This set up works for new and existing canister filters.

Set up a canister filter

Step 1

Make sure your canister filter and hoses are completely empty of water

Step 2

Make sure all hoses are connected

Step 3

Place the intake (where water comes into the filter from) completely under water

Step 4

Suck on the end of the hose where water comes back into tank until you feel the siphon begin. (Remove the spray from the end to do this)

Step 5

Once the canister filter and hoses are all full of water turn the filter on and away you go.

Other Notes

-Ensure there are not any air leaks from any of the joins.

-Make sure impeller and impeller housing is clean
