Sand Monitor / Goanna (Varanus gouldi)

Sand Goannas are amongst the most commonly kept of the larger monitors in Australia, though they continue to be bred infrequently. Breeding's have been known to occur at as little as one year of age.

They are probably the most commonly encountered monitor in the wild and are widely distributed throughout Australia. Many specimens, especially those from central Australia, are brightly coloured with shades of orange, yellow and brown, making them a highly attractive species.
